Empowering Learners Through Collaborative Practice

  • Provide collaborative guidance in understanding instructions and in homework completion, helping learners develop effective communicators who express themselves clearly and confidently.
  • Empower learners to complete as much homework or outstanding learning tasks as possible, thus supporting learner well-being and a balanced lifestyle that honors physical, intellectual, and emotional development.
  • Enhance learners’ study and organizational skills.
  • Encourage academic integrity and personal responsibility, fostering principled learners who act with honesty, fairness, and respect for others.
  • Provide assistance in understanding academic concepts related to their assignments, helping learners become more knowledgeable 
  • Motivate learners to use time constructively to support a collaborative learning culture, acting as caring and open-minded citizens who value and respect the learning environments of those around them.
  • Encourage learners to discover their own answers to questions as active thinkers by embracing a reflective trial-and-error process, thereby improving their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Empower learners to improve their self-management and time management through encouragement and supportive guidance.
  • Motivate learners to check and keep up with their assignments so that LEP time is used purposefully.

Expectations

To ensure a productive, safe, and positive environment for all participants, we outline the following learner expectations:

  • Learners are requested to keep up with their assignments and share any academic queries with their LEP instructor, demonstrating the traits of curious inquirers who actively seek to deepen their understanding.
  • Learners are expected to respect their peers and instructors so that the time can be used constructively, cultivating a caring and open-minded learning community that values the dignity of every individual.
  • Learners are encouraged to make an independent effort to tackle problems and request the assistance of the instructor to proceed with their thought process, embracing opportunities to be risk-takers as they explore ideas and problem-solving strategies.

Program Structure

  • Learners are provided with a structured, quiet environment.
  • Learners are responsible for keeping up with assignments.
  • Learners are encouraged to set daily goals for the completion of their homework.
  • Learners are provided with feedback about the timely completion of their work, prompting them to reflect on their learning progress and self-management skills.
  • The trial-and-error process is embraced, encouraging learners to be risk-takers who are not afraid of making mistakes
  • Learners are expected to communicate their questions and share their assignments with the instructor, strengthening their development as confident communicators.
  • LEP is not an individualized one-on-one session.
  • LEP aims at supporting learners with assignments.
