The Elementary Math Studio Specialist Grades 1-5 is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program based on best practices in mathematics in an environment that guides and encourages elementary students from first through fifth grade to develop and achieve a conceptual understanding of mathematics. The Math Specialist will also collaborate with the Mathematics Division Chair to build resources and various enrichment opportunities for students to participate in.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum: In collaboration with the Math Division Chair, ensures that curricular progressions are updated and aligned (1-5);
- Instruction: Supports student learning as needed in all grade levels and various modes (one-on-one meetings with students, small group instruction, either face to face or virtually);
- Optimal Learning Program: Collaborates with faculty and OLP specialists to ensure child services are adequately resourced and implemented to support student learning;
- Instructional Resources: Support students to think creatively and build comfort around solving real-world problems by creating unique school-wide projects or competitions that promote real-world thinking and applications.
Duties:
- Works with a small group or individual students to enrich conceptual understanding of numeracy skills and mathematical literacy;
- Creates individual programs based on student needs and monitors and records student progress throughout the year;
- Collects evidence of student achievement via anecdotal records, student samples, data, etc;
- Collaborates, shares, and updates homeroom teachers with student progress/records;
- Implements engaging activities with small groups or models engaging activities in homeroom classrooms to meet academic standards;

- Communicates with Optimal Learning Program Coordinator to support students with individual learning plans (ILP) and advanced learning plans (ALP);
- Plans, develops, and implements best practice lesson plans and classroom activities consistent with student needs, curriculum, and class management needs;
- Uses our LMS efficiently and uploads curricula, sample lessons, resources for differentiation and enrichment materials for each grade level;
- Keeps abreast of best practices and new teaching and learning methodologies;
- Collaborates with STEM Assistant (or other professionals like Library Media or Technology teacher) to design real-world-based projects for Elementary Students;
- Promote conceptual understanding and student engagement in school-wide projects;
- Allows students to unravel problem-solving techniques using a hands-on, trial-and-error approach;
- Encourages creative thinking with challenging classroom projects;
- Helps students connect math, science, and technological principles to everyday life;
- Participates in co-curricular activities (Math Literacy Night, Tech Club, Literacy Night, Coding Club, etc.);
- Completes referrals of students referred by homeroom teachers to the Child Study Team, as needed;
- Attends all faculty meetings;
- Participates in school-wide community events to share information about the program;
- Orders appropriate programs or manipulatives for elementary students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and a valid teaching license. An Elementary Teaching license is preferred;

Basic Function and Scope:
Performs a variety of support tasks in the school to assist the operations of the Learning Commons and support other supervisory buildings' needs, as directed. Functions in the capacity of direct monitoring of students in the Learning Commons and around the school campus and other monitoring duties as assigned.
Duties Performed:
- Monitors and records students entrance and exit to the Learning Commons throughout the day;
- Monitors students in all three levels of the Learning Commons encouraging students to make use of the academic and support facilities available to them to reach their maximum academic potential;
- Monitors that students do not eat in the Learning Commons;
- Monitors bathroom use and facility use by students in the Learning Commons;
- Monitors ES, MS, & HS students around the school campus as directed;
- Monitors students that may have been left behind after the late buses at the front gate until parents pick up their children;

Basic Function and Scope:
- Performs a variety of tasks in the school to assist students and the faculty. Functions in the capacity of writing studio coordinator, direct supervision of writing studio personnel, students and student tutoring.
- The position includes the following duties and responsibilities:
- One-to-one conferencing with students, grades 6 – 12, as they work on writing/ research assignments in a range of genres and a variety of disciplines;
- Collaborates with the Elementary School Writing Studio personnel to provide a smooth transition of support services as they enter the Middle School;
- Working with students through the writing process by encouraging and teaching revision and editing skills;
- Facilitating small-group conferencing, which involves training students in the skills of effective response and peer-editing skills;
- Maintaining the Writing Center logs and records;
- Maintaining and consistently upgrading the Moodle Course Shell of the Writing studio;
- Develops and delivers classes on writing college essays and UCAS Personal Statements;
- Is present from 9:00 am -5:00 pm daily, in the writing studio of the Learning Commons;
- Prepares writing studio materials, as needed, for distribution by using a copying machine, lamination machine e.t.c.;
- Personally is involved in, and in turn directs, writing studio personnel to perform presentations in Academy advisory classes;
- Arranges writing studio bulletin board displays;
- Guides, assists and teaches Middle School and Academy students writing and research skills and concepts as needed;
- Ensures that students are aware of Academic Integrity policies and procedures;
- Coordinates the use of No Red Ink as a tool to enhance students' writing skills;
- Offers suggestion to students on writing assignments;
- Supervises students during , lunch or early morning periods outside;

- Communicates consistently with classroom teachers in regards to students in need of particular or specialized attention by using the Learning Commons Reaches Out Protocol;
- Reviews MAP scores to identify students in need;
- Provides assistance and support to the school community as it relates to the planning and implementation of writing projects;
- Collaborate with the ACS Athens Technician regarding all matters related to technology and equipment, such as troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, etc.;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in English Language and Literature;
- Masters degree in writing and / or education will be considered an advantage;
- Knowledge of working with EFL/ESL students;
- Excellent command of the English language both spoken and in writing;
- Strong organizational skills are required;
- At least two years of teaching experience in a similar position;
- Display commitment to safeguarding and protection of children.
