ACS Athens 4th Grade honored to witness a historical moment

ACS Athens, as part of the broader community guides by example, inspiring its young individuals to be involved in different events in addition to their school life. On September 17, 2019, ACS Athens' fourth Grade was invited by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to witness the Olympic Flame Ceremony at the historic Panathenaic Stadium for the 2020 Youth Winter Olympic Games in Lausanne.

This Field Trip was an honor and an opportunity for the students to experience first-hand the customary procedures taking place before the inauguration of the coming Olympiad. Also, it was a chance to get introduced to the Olympic Games (Ancient and Modern) which are one of the interdisciplinary thematic units of study they will cover this academic year. Students gained an enlightening preview of this unit and through their presence at the Ceremony familiarized themselves with the concepts of Time, Continuity, Change, Citizenship, and Culture.
