The 8th-grade Greek Language Arts students recently embarked on an enriching field trip centered around The Wave, the compelling social experiment by educator Ron Jones. This learning experience offered students the opportunity to explore topics related to authority, society, and education.

Students' were highly connected and engaged with the theatrical performance and the actors which resulted in student understanding of the themes of The Wave to the principles of Conscious Citizenship. Students recognized the importance of independent thought, ethical decision-making, and standing against injustice.

Ultimately this experience fostered a greater awareness of social responsibility, empowering students to reflect on their own roles within their communities. Beyond its historical and ethical implications, the field trip also offered an aesthetic encounter with culture, inviting students to appreciate theater as a powerful medium for examining human nature.

It’s awesome to see ACS Athens’ students grow as reflective inquirers of Conscious Citizenship!
