On Friday, October 16, St. Lawrence hosted the first two tournaments of the fall season: the Girls Varsity Soccer Tournament and the Boys Varsity Volleyball Tournament.
Although the competitions took place relatively early in the season, the level of play was impressive, with teams demonstrating skill, determination, and a strong competitive spirit.
Our Boys Varsity Volleyball team secured third place, finishing the tournament with two wins and one loss. Their match against Byron proved challenging, as they faced a strong opponent and ultimately fell short, losing 0-2. However, the boys responded positively, earning two hard-fought victories against St. Lawrence (2-1) and ISA (2-1) to claim the bronze medal.
Our Girls Varsity Soccer team, despite being a relatively young squad, enjoyed an excellent tournament, finishing in first place. The girls recorded three convincing victories against St. Lawrence (4-1), St. Catherine's (5-1), and Campion (3-1). Their performances reflected not only their individual abilities but also their growing understanding of the game, effective teamwork, and attacking strength.
While we are proud of both teams' accomplishments, there is still work to be done. With the ISAA Championships approaching in November, our athletes will continue to train, develop their skills, and strengthen their team dynamics as they prepare to face international school teams from across the region. The upcoming competitions will undoubtedly present new challenges and valuable opportunities for growth.
Congratulations to all our Lancers! We commend our student-athletes for their efforts, commitment, and sportsmanship, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow and represent ACS Athens with pride.
