Mr. Dimitropoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He holds a Bachelor degree in Sport Science & Physical Education from the University of Athens and has a Master degree in Sports Management from the University of Lyon.
He has been at ACS Athens as a High School Physical Education teacher since 2005. In addition, he has worked as the Baseball Competition Manager for the Athens 2004 Olympics and also worked as an assistant coach in Division I basketball club team between 1998-2000.
Mr Dimitropoulos has been the Varsity boys Volleyball Coach since 2007, the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach since 2006 and a High School Track Coach since 2007.
Ms. Labrini Rontogiannis was born and raised in Montreal, Canada and moved to Athens in 2004. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology at McGill University and a Bachelor of Education, specialization in Science and English Literature, also from McGill. She recently completed a M.Ed. specializing in Educational Technology at the University of Calgary. This year Ms Rontogiannis is teaching Science in the Middle School and AP Environmental Science.
Ms. Rontogiannis has been teaching at the ACS Athens since 2005 and she takes pride in getting involved in all aspects of student life; both in and out of the classroom. She has coached Girls Junior Varsity and Varsity Volleyball teams for a number of years, at ACS Athens and in Montreal Public Schools. Her dedication to athletics extends outside school where she recently earned certification as an official indoor cycling (Spinning) instructor.
This year she is coaching Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball.
Jenny Skoog was born and raised in Minnesota. She attended Central Lakes College in Brainerd, Minnesota where she earned her Associates in Arts Degree. She then transferred to Minnesota State University Moorhead where she will graduate with her Physical Education and Health Degree in December. In high school, she played volleyball, basketball, and softball for all four years. At Central Lakes College, she also played volleyball and softball for two years. She also coached a traveling volleyball team.
Ms. Skoog is an intern in the elementary school where she is teaching Physical Education.
Ilias Karapiperis was born in Beirut, Lebanon. He has a Bachelor's degree in Commercial Shipping from London Guildhall University. He has played soccer in numerous amateur clubs and has an UEFA B' coaching license. Mr. Karapiperis has been coaching soccer academies since 1996 and has worked with Olympiakos F.C. Academies Network from 2002-2012 and is the founder and owner of Nikites F.C. Academy since 2004.
A graduate of the ACS Athens class of 1992, Mr. Karapiperis had been a member of the varsity soccer team in grades 10, 11, 12 and was the captain during his senior year. He considers coaching youngsters to be his life mission and through soccer, he aims in inspiring and influencing students to believe in their will power, discover their strengths and acquire values that set the foundation for a successful and fulfilling future.
Mr. Naoum was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. He holds a coaching certificate in soccer. He has been at ACS Athens for the past 12 years. He has coached boys and girls soccer at all levels. As an athlete he has played soccer in semi-pro level and was a member of the Belgian league for the team of Anderlecht. He is also an ACS Athens alumnus (class of 1979).?
Mr. Mikros was born in New Jersey and raised both in the United States and Greece. He earned a bachelor’s in History from Kean University in Union, New Jersey, and a Post Bachelor’s degree in Physical & Health Education (K-12). He is certified by the State of New Jersey to teach Physical Education and Health.
In 2013, Mr. Mikros co-presented a workshop at the ECIS Physical Education Conference, Surrey Sports Park, England, titled “Ice-breakers, Bonding Activities for the First Days of School”.
Mr. Mikros is an emergency responder (CPR/First Aid for adult/child/infant) a certified wall climbing instructor, and a certified lifeguard.
He has been a member of the ACS Athens faculty since 2005 teaching in the elementary school, middle school and high school. This year Mr. Mikros will be teaching physical education in the middle school.
Mr. Mikros is also the coach for both the Junior Varsity Boy’s soccer and Middle School Track & Field Teams.
Ms. Gorack was born and raised in Algonquin, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She went to college at Western Illinois University where she received her undergrad in bilingual/bicultural education. After graduating she began her teaching career in a first grade bilingual classroom. During her years of teaching she has taught kindergarten to 8th grade ESL/Bilingual students in various subjects.
She is also a certified soccer coach and has been coaching girls and boys soccer for the last 5 years. Ms. Gorack enjoys playing all sports but soccer and Gaelic football are her favorites. When she isn't playing sports or coaching she enjoys traveling and trying new foods.
Mrs. Alexandra Komnou is a Greek-Canadian born and raised in Greece. She earned a Diploma in Sports Science at the University of Portsmouth and then transferred with an athletic scholarship to the University of Arizona where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Coaching.
Alexandra Komnou was a professional Track and Field athlete and member of the Greek National team for more than 12 years and has broken 14 national records in the 60 and 100m hurdles. She has competed in multiple Balkan, European and World Championships with great success.
She has worked for 6 years as a PR and marketing & communication manager in a digital & print publication company.
Nick Steinke was born, and grew up in, Los Angeles, California.
He attended the University of California at San Diego where he earned his B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science. While in San Diego he worked for Upward Bound Math-Science at UCSD and taught 8th grade math, Algebra 1, and Algebra II. He then moved to Wuxi, China to teach English Literature and English Culture at Jiangnan University, a national university. He received his Master's in Education with an emphasis on Teaching and Curriculum at Harvard University and taught at a Catholic high school in the community of Dorchester.
In high school he ran Cross Country and Track all four years. In track he specialized in the 1600m and 800m. Other sports/activities he has participated in over the years include racquetball, soccer, table tennis, Frisbee golf, bicycling, beach volleyball, kayaking, and weight training. He has also been an avid hiker for most of his life.
This year, Mr. Steinke will be assisting with Cross Country.
Mr. Charachousis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He is a former competitive swimmer with national awards. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education & Sports Science (ESP) pathway, with specialty in swimming.
He has been at Holmes Place as a pool instructor as well as a personal trainer. In addition, he has worked as a coach for the swimming team of the island of Paros for (3) months in 2014, 2015, 2016. He is also a certified lifeguard.
Mr. Charachousis has been working as a lifeguard for the municipality of Paros on 2012. He also has a Certificate of Proficiency in English.
Mr. Papadakis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He is a former Greek and Balcan champion in swimming.
He holds a Bachelor degree in Physical Education & Sports Science. He has been at Ziridis School for the past five (5) years, as a supervisor aquatics instructor and as the high school swim coach. In addition, he has worked as an assistant coach for the Hellenic National swimming team for two (2) years and for the past eight (8) years he has been the Head coach of the swimming team named "SK ROI". He is also a certified lifeguard.
Jennifer Polizos, comes to ACS this year from Jeju, South Korea. Jennifer, her husband and two children have been working throughout Asia, Africa and the Middle East for the past 10 years. Jennifer was born and raised in Michigan, USA where most of her family still resides. After high school Jennifer moved to the east coast where she received a Bachelor's of Art in History and a Bachelor's of Science in Special Education at Felician University in New Jersey. Jennifer also received her Masters in Education at Lesley University in Cambridge, focusing on integration of technology in the classroom.
Ms. Polizos's experience with the Special Olympics gave her the start to coaching, where she then quickly learned that swimming was a passion and forever going progression. Jennifer is an American Red Cross certified lifeguard and level one coach under the ZASU coaching clinics. Jennifer later became a Master swimmer where she was trained under a former South African Olympian working on techniques and stroke corrections. She later became a coach of division one and two swim teams in Zambia and South Korea. Jennifer loves competition and has had the opportunity to be a part of many different international events.
This year Jennifer will coach the ACS Athens Middle School Swimming team and is very pleased and excited about the learning opportunities that the team as well as the Swimming Academy has to offer.
Mr. Tsichlas was born and raised in Athens, Greece.
He earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education & Sports Science from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in Swimming. He is also a certified lifeguard, and an emergency responder (CPR/First Aid for adult/child/infant).
Over the past years Mr. Tsichlas has worked as a swimming coach in swimming clubs, in after school activities (swimming), and in the ACS Athens swimming academy. He is a member of the Coaches Association of Swimming, Water Polo, and Diving, as well as a licensed professional coach of swimming (Level A), as administered by the General Secretariat of Sports. He has attended several seminars organized by the National Federation of Swimming, and the swimming coaches association.
This year Mr. Tsichlas is coaching the ACS Athens Middle School Swimming team.
Ms. Constantinides was born in Cairo, Egypt. She earned a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and French Language at McGill University; she received an M.A. in Exercise Physiology from the same institution, an M.Sc. in Sports Administration from Louisville University and an MBA from University of Indianapolis.
Ms. Constantinides is an ACS Athens Alumnus (class of '79) and returned to ACS Athens as a Middle School Physical Education teacher in 1986. She holds the position of Athletic Director since 1998.
Ms. Constantinides was the event manager in a number of International Sports projects, such as the McDonalds Classic in Paris, the NBA Jam Tour in Greece, the NBA 3 x 3 tour in Greece. In addition, she has worked in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, was the Venue and Competition Manager for Softball in the Athens 2004 Olympics and was the appointed Technical Delegate for Softball in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, as well as the venue and sport manager for the Special Olympics that took place in Athens in July 2011. She was the Assistant Technical Delegate of the World Summer Special Olympic Games of 2015 in the sport of softball.
She was a member of the ISST Executive Board from 2006-09, a member of the International Softball Federation Executive Board from 2008-09, is presently on the Executive Board of the SCIS Conference (Sports Council of International Schools) and is the recipient of the “Women and Sport” Award by the International Olympic Committee.
Ms. Grigoria Pateraki was born and raised in Chania, Crete. She attended Lamar University and Texas Woman's University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Ms. Pateraki attended both schools on a full athletic scholarship in basketball and was working for Texas Woman’s University Athletic Department for three years as an event staff member. She was a member of the Greek National team for eight consecutive years and is currently playing for G.S. Esperides Kalitheas (Greek A1 League).
Ms. Pateraki is currently working as an Athletics & Summer Camp Administrative assistant. These last two years, she has also been the JV Girls Basketball coach.
Mr. Justin Cramer grew up outside of Kansas City, Missouri. He went on to Buena Vista University where he earned his B.A. in General Science with an emphasis on Biology, and Secondary Education. He taught at Centerville High School in Centerville, Iowa for three years teaching a variety of science subjects including Earth Science, Biology, Environmental Science, and Chemistry for grades 7-12. He moved back to Kansas City and taught at William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri for five years teaching Biology, Physical Science, and Astronomy. He earned a M.A. in Secondary Education Administration from University of Central Missouri in Education and has aspirations of becoming a school principal.
This is his third year at ACS Athens and he will be teaching ninth grade Biology and AP Environmental Science. His goal as a science teacher is to help students find at least one scientific fact that amazes them. He looks forward to working on that goal at ACS Athens.
Outside of school Mr. Cramer enjoys being active, playing sports (and watching his beloved sports teams), watching movies, listening to music, traveling, visiting the beach, and reading.
Ms. Efi Karatopouzi was born in Greece having a Greek Australian citizenship (Australian mother) and was raised abroad until she finished first grade. Then, she came to Greece where she graduated from Greek High School and continued her studies at the School of Physical Education and Sports Science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where she earned her B.A. with specialization on Track and Field. In 2017, she earned her B.A. in Child Psychology at the University of the Aegean. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in School Psychology. She holds a degree in Yoga and has participated in personal development courses regarding teaching methods for large classes as well as teaching physical education to kids with autism. She is an official Archery, Track and Field, and National Nordic coach.
Ms. Karatopouzi has a rich experience in physical education. She has worked as a fitness teacher for many years in several sports clubs for adults and children and as a volunteer physical education teacher at Zanneio Institution, where she worked with abused children. She has been a member of the Greek National Track & Field team for 15 years and has competed in national and international competitions in Greece and abroad. She is co-founder and co-creator of Fitness Nordic. She is also the author of a children's book on exercise; a new way to make kids' fantasy work with creativity by listening and exercising.
Ms. Karatopouzi began working at ACS Athens in 2016 as a Physical Education Teacher in the Elementary School and has undertaken different posts in the Athletic Department in all three schools and ACS Athens Summer Camp since then. In 2017 -2018, she piloted a mindfulness program for students in Junior Kindergarten classes, which will continue to run this year also. Her pilot mindfulness research paper was presented at the International Mindfulness Convention, held in Slovenia. She has also offered her services voluntarily to the Youth to Youth Program at ACS Athens.
Mr. Chris Kourtis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He studied Physical Education and Sports Science at the University of Athens where earned his B.A. specializing in Tennis.
He has been actively involved in teaching Physical Education at ACS Athens since 2009, at all three school levels. Currently he is teaching 7th grade Physical Education.
He is a certified lifeguard, a (level D) wall climbing operator/supervisor and has successfully completed the Emergency First Response Course that follows current guidelines for emergency patient care.
Mr. Chris Kourtis has been teaching tennis since 2001 at several tennis clubs and in 2007, joined the ACS Athens Tennis Academy coaching team. He is also the coach of the ACS Athens Middle School Tennis team.
He has attended several seminars organized by the National Federation of Tennis Instructors.
Mr. Schoenefeld was born in Dusseldorf / Germany. He attended the DTB/VDT tennis trainer education for four years and has received three of the highest Tennis training diplomas with different specializations during this time, which are all recognized by the ITF.
His specializations reach from "mini tennis" over "main stream club tennis" up to "training and Micro, Meso, Makro training/ tournament planning" and the training of sport psychological components of and for professional tennis players. He has worked as an assistant tennis instructor at Universities tennis teams and as Head coach at Dusseldorf Tennis academy. He worked as the tennis department manager of a Greek sports company, providing tennis training and sport activities in various athletic facilities around Athens.
In addition, he has attended various seminars as "tennis specific conditioning", "Importance of general and tennis specific coordination in Tennis", "Biomechanical Importance and developments in tennis", "Sport psychological aspects and their importance in professional Tennis"; also, he has completed an emergency first response course that follows current guidelines for emergency patient care, and many more.
He has been at ACS Athens for the past 11 years, and manages the ACS Athens Tennis Academy as its supervisor and Head coach. In addition, he is the head coach of the ACS Athens High School tennis team.
