On February 3, ACS Athens celebrated World Read Aloud Day - an opportunity to pay attention to the importance of sharing stories!

World Read Aloud Day was initially launched by the nonprofit organization LitWorld in 2009 and is now celebrated all over the world.

This is the 2nd year that ACS Athens participates in this global event by having a mystery reader in every elementary classroom.

The theme at ACS Athens for this year was "Celebrating Diversity: Together We Can Make The World A Better Place!"

"Reading aloud to my students is a joy and something I get to do in the library every single day," says Caroline Miller, Elementary School Library Media Specialist at ACS Athens.

"Today, I was able to share that joy by arranging others to visit classrooms and read aloud a book or a passage from a book to encourage our students to celebrate our uniqueness and individuality.

Not only do our students develop an appreciation for language and reading when we read to and with them, but they learn valuable lessons from what we read."

ACS Athens extends a big loud "Thank you" to everyone for their involvement and participation!
