The fall season just ended for a number of Lancers teams this past weekend: the Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer teams traveled to Brussels, the Varsity Boys and Girls Volleyball teams traveled to London and our Varsity & JV Cross Country teams went to Rome for their event.

All our student-athletes returned with memories but just as importantly, with great performances, individually as well as collectively.

The Boys Volleyball team competed against five other teams at their tournament, hosted by TASIS, England. While some matches could have gone their way, the results were not always representative of their true ability. They finished in 5th place, which allowed them to be hopeful for next year's participation in Division 1. Congratulations to the athletes and coaches for the overall effort and to George Petrantonakis for being selected for the All-Star team.

Our Girls Volleyball team delivered an outstanding performance at the ISAA Tournament, hosted this year at ACS Egham in London. The team finished in 2nd place after a hard-fought final that came down to a close third set. Facing a strong opponent, our athletes played with composure, heart, and remarkable teamwork,  supporting one another and giving their absolute best until the final point. We are proud to share that two of our players earned All-Star selections: 10th graders Izabella Tzanaki and Sofia Spanoudaki. Congratulations!

The Boys Soccer team participated in their ISAA championships hosted by the British School of Brussels; they finished fourth overall, losing a heartbreaking semifinal in the penalty shootout. Their disappointment, coupled with fatigue, was instrumental in the outcome of the bronze medal game as they finished the tournament in fourth place. Congratulations to everyone for their hard-fought "battles" and special shoutout to Ioannis Maris and Oscar Geyr for their All-Star nominations.

The Girls Soccer team, in the same city, finished in second place - the girls played hard throughout the tournament and the final game against TASIS was decided by just one goal. A team effort by all the players, only a few of them returning from the previous year. This is a "young" team and the future is bright for those coming back next year. Well done, athletes and coaches, and congratulations to Maria Iliadi, Zefi Solomos, and Melina Chatziioanou for being selected on the All-Star team.

Finally, our Cross Country runners did an exceptional job in Rome at the event hosted by MMI Rome. With beautiful weather on both race days, our JV Girls and JV Boys teams finished in first place while our Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys finished in 2nd place, earning the 1st place trophy for the overall standings. Almost all of the runners broke their personal best times; special mention to:

  • JV Boys: 1st place Kai Ghosn, 2nd place Xinyan Mo
  • Varsity Boys: 1st place Sebastian Baga
  • Varsity Girls: 3rd place Ami Koyama
  • Mixed Relays: 1st place Junior Varsity and 2nd place Varsity

Congratulations to ALL the student-athletes and their coaches for a great finish to their season.
