On September 12, 2025, a group of ACS Athens Academy students, accompanied by their teachers and administrators, attended the Athens Innovation Summit 2025, hosted at the historic Odeon of Herodes Atticus and sponsored by Endeavor.

The highlight of the event was a thought-provoking dialogue between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, who explored how artificial intelligence can be developed and deployed responsibly in today’s rapidly changing world.

Key themes included:

• Balancing Innovation with Values: Greece is investing in AI infrastructure—including the vision of an “AI factory”—while prioritizing democratic norms and the mental health of younger generations.
• Ethics and Trust in AI: Deploying AI is not only a technical or economic challenge but also a social one, requiring governance, transparency, and ethical safeguards to ensure alignment with democratic ideals.
• Building Local Capacity: For Greece to thrive in the AI era, it must foster home-grown talent, invest in research and infrastructure, and position itself as a regional hub of innovation.

By attending this landmark event, ACS Athens students experienced first-hand how global leaders are shaping the future of technology, ethics, and society—an experience that aligns with our school’s mission to cultivate global citizens and ethical leaders.
