ACS Athens President Dr. Peggy Pelonis was invited to speak at the Greek Parliament, representing the school at the 15th General Assembly of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association (WHIA)—a gathering of international significance that brought together Hellenic leaders, ambassadors, and education officials from around the world.
The invitation, extended by Senator Leonidas Raptakis, offered an opportunity to showcase the vision and global impact of ACS Athens alongside representatives from three other respected institutions: Athens College, the American College of Greece, and Plato Academy in Florida.
Dr. Pelonis addressed an audience that included members of the Greek Ministry of Education, as well as dignitaries and delegates of Greek descent from the United States, Canada, Australia, and other nations. Her remarks emphasized the school’s commitment to nurturing ethical, innovative global citizens—grounded in academic excellence and inspired by a deep sense of purpose.
This recognition reinforces the role ACS Athens plays not only as a leader in international education, but as a bridge between cultures, ideas, and generations. Dr. Pelonis stated:
At a time when the world can feel divided, this school stands as a living bridge—between the birthplace of democracy and the nation that gave it breath, between Greek and American ideals, between the past we honor and the future we are preparing. We are proud of this honor and inspired by the opportunity to represent ACS Athens on such a distinguished stage.
