Math/Science Studio
The Learning Commons houses the Math/Science Studio, a collaborative and learner-centered environment where Middle School and Academy learners can strengthen their understanding of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Systems & Societies, and Physics.
Working independently or collaboratively, learners are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, solve problems, and reflect on their learning with guidance from the Math/Science Studio team. Through targeted academic support, the Studio responds to diverse learning needs while helping learners build confidence, develop agency and independence, and become thoughtful, capable, and lifelong learners. Learners are encouraged to approach challenges with curiosity, think critically and creatively, consider different perspectives, and take increasing ownership of their learning.
Mathematics reveals its secrets only to those who approach it with pure love, for its own beauty!

Goals & Services
The Math/Science Studio provides a supportive environment in which learners deepen conceptual understanding, strengthen problem-solving and inquiry skills, and take greater ownership of their learning. Through targeted interventions and differentiated support, our professionals empower learners to identify areas for growth, ask meaningful questions, critically evaluate their own work and the work of others, apply their knowledge, reflect on their progress, and develop effective learning strategies that will serve them throughout their lives.
The Studio encourages learners to become inquirers who approach problems with critical thinking; knowledgeable learners who develop conceptual understanding of mathematical and science concepts; and reflective, independent learners who recognize their strengths, respond to challenges, and develop effective problem solving strategies for continued growth.
To support learning and growth in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Systems & Societies, and Physics, the Studio offers:
- Individual and small-group targeted academic support
- Workshops and specialized learning sessions
- Preparation for tests, examinations, and retakes
- Opportunities to develop inquiry, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Support for learner reflection, agency, and independent learning
- Guidance in developing effective approaches to learning and study strategies
