Tsigaridi, Liana, Faculty, Mathematics, Division Chair of Mathematics (Gr. 1-6)

Dr. Liana Tsigaridi holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Patras, graduating top of her class and receiving an award from the State Scholarships Foundation. She pursued two concurrent M.Sc. degrees: one in Applied Mathematics at the Technical University of Athens and another in Astrophysics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She completed a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Applied Mathematics at NKUA, specializing in Galactic Dynamics, supported by a full scholarship from the Leventis Foundation.

Alongside her academic achievements, Dr. Tsigaridi holds degrees in Music and Dance, plays piano and viola, and has been a member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Athens since 1991.

Her research experience includes participation in programs funded by the Academy of Athens in collaboration with the Research Center for Astronomy and Applied Mathematics. She has contributed to peer-reviewed publications, presented at academic conferences, and served as a visiting researcher at the European Southern Observatory in Munich, working on the "Galactic Potential Extraction" project.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, Dr. Tsigaridi has been a faculty member at ACS Athens since 2017 and has served as an IB Mathematics examiner since 2021. This academic year, she teaches IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) at both Higher and Standard Levels, as well as Algebra 2 & Trigonometry Honors, while also serving as Mathematics Division Chair for Grades K–6. Beyond her teaching and leadership responsibilities, she contributes to the ACS Athens community as a CAS Advisor, Senior Class Advisor, and Mathematics Competition Coach for the Grades 6–8 MathCounts Competitive Team. 

Dr. Tsigaridi is committed to helping students develop not only an understanding of mathematics, but also a lasting appreciation for its significance and beauty.
