El Murr, Hala, Faculty, 4th Grade
Ms. Hala El Murr is entering her third year at ACS Athens and her second year teaching fourth grade, and she couldn't be more excited to build on last year’s momentum.
She holds a BA and TD in Elementary Education and an MA in Educational Administration and Policy Studies, with a specialization in leadership. Her international teaching journey spans Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, and Greece. She counts her time teaching at ACS Beirut and later training educators in Project-Based Learning with ROTA in Qatar as defining career experiences, and PBL remains close to her heart.
Ms. El Murr joined ACS Athens in January 2025 as the Elementary Library Media and Literacy Specialist, where she shared her love of books and storytelling with students from Pre-JK through Grade 5. Now in the fourth-grade classroom, she channels that same energy into creating a space where curiosity thrives.
Her first year in fourth grade was a rich and rewarding experience. She learned immensely from her students, full of potential and energy, as well as from her fellow teachers, administrators, and families. Together, they built a classroom community grounded in trust and exploration. Ms. El Murr introduced social-emotional learning puppets, which became a powerful tool for students to express emotions, navigate group dynamics, and reflect on their academic and personal growth. She also launched a yoga club in the third trimester, which quickly became a student favorite. At her principal's encouragement, she dove into an intensive study of classroom management- reading deeply, refining her approach, and ultimately sharing her insights with her colleagues through a workshop. It was a meaningful professional challenge that helped her find even firmer footing as an educator.
This year, she looks forward to continuing these traditions while welcoming new ideas. Returning to ACS as a teacher, after being a student here herself, is deeply meaningful. Her philosophy is simple: empower students to think critically, act independently, and speak kindly to themselves and others. As a long-distance runner, she knows that small, consistent habits shape who we become, and she brings that belief into every school day.
Ms. El Murr is eager to partner with families for another wonderful year ahead.
