Barnes, Adriana, Elementary School Permanent Substitute Teacher

Adriana Barnes is a Substitute Teacher at ACS Athens, where she supports students across the elementary school and contributes to a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Adriana brings several years of experience in elementary education, with a particular background in literacy support and reading instruction. Prior to her current role, she worked as an English reading specialist and program coordinator, supporting students in developing foundational literacy skills and collaborating with teachers to strengthen reading instruction. Her experience includes providing targeted literacy support, using student assessment data to inform instruction, and developing engaging, student-centered learning experiences.

With a strong foundation in literature and literacy education, Adriana is passionate about helping children become confident readers, thinkers, and communicators. She enjoys creating meaningful connections between learning and students’ interests while fostering classrooms where children feel encouraged to participate, explore, and grow.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Adriana now lives in Athens, Greece. Outside of education, she enjoys traveling, creative writing, crafting, and reading.
