In his tenth year at ACS Athens, Mr. Kalogridakis was born and raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Rutgers University in NJ, then his Masters of Arts in Teaching from Boston University, and holds both Massachusetts and New Jersey teaching certifications. He has also completed extended course work for a Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Indianapolis.
Having worked as an Academy Counselor for 6 years, Mr. Kalogridakis is in his 4th year with 6th - 8th grade students, as the Middle School Counselor. Past advisor of the National Honor Society, Model United Nations club, and Student Council advisor, he is also an active coach of after school recreational teams under the Athletic Department.
Mr. Christos Stachikas is a Physical Education Teacher for the ACS Academy. He was raised in both Athens, Greece and Miami, FL of the United States, where he graduated from high school.
Following his return to Athens in 2010, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science and Physical Education from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a Specialty Diploma in Biology of Exercise. He is currently in the second and final year of pursuing a Master’s Degree in “Applied and Molecular Physiology” at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
In 2016 Mr. Stachikas served his military duty in the Greek Presidential Guard, the honorary unit of the Hellenic Armed Forces. He has also been working as a professional basketball coach for eight years and is currently a coach for the Panathinaikos BC Academy. This will be his first year teaching Physical Education in the ACS Academy.
Mr. Choumas was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He was a professional basketball player and a former member of Greek youth national teams. He holds a Bachelors degree in Physical Education & Sports Science and is a certified lifeguard.
He has been at Arsakeio School for the past two years as evening sports programs coach. As of this year, he is a swimming instructor for the ACS Athens after school programs.
Mr. Choumas is also a certified lifeguard.
Mr. Charachousis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He is a former competitive swimmer with national awards. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education & Sports Science (ESP) pathway, with specialty in swimming.
He has been at Holmes Place as a pool instructor as well as a personal trainer. In addition, he has worked as a coach for the swimming team of the island of Paros for (3) months in 2014, 2015, 2016. He is also a certified lifeguard.
Mr. Charachousis has been working as a lifeguard for the municipality of Paros on 2012. He also has a Certificate of Proficiency in English.
Ms. Athanasia Kotsiani earned her Bachelor degree in Physical Education & Sports Science from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in swimming (2004). She holds a Master in Education and Creative Learning from Democritus University of Thrace (2014).
She joined the ACS Athens faculty in 2005 teaching Physical Education in Middle and High School. Currently she is teaching 8th grade Physical Education. She has been coaching the ACS Athens swimming teams (MS or HS) since 2005 and working in the after school swimming program since 2004. She also has been the Cross country team coach (2016 & 2019). Besides her teaching background Ms. Kotsiani is a certified lifeguard, international swimming official, a (level D) wall climbing operator/supervisor and an emergency responder (CPR/First Aid for adult/child/infant).
Mrs. Kotsiani was born and raised in Athens, Greece.
Mr. Papadakis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He is a former Greek and Balcan champion in swimming. He holds a Bachelor degree in Physical Education & Sports Science. He has been at Ziridis School for the past five (5) years, as a supervisor aquatics instructor and as the high school swim coach. In addition, he has worked as an assistant coach for the Hellenic National swimming team for two (2) years and for the past eight (8) years he has been the Head coach of the swimming team named "SK ROI". He is also a certified lifeguard.
Mr. Nick Naoum was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa and holds a coaching certificate in soccer.
He has coached boys and girls soccer at all levels and has also been a Varsity Coach at ACS Athens for several years. As an athlete Mr. Naoum has played soccer in semi-pro level and was a member of the Belgian league for the team of Anderlecht.
Mr. Naoum is an ACS Athens alumnus (class of 1979).
Mr. Mikros was born in New Jersey and raised both in the United States and Greece. He earned a bachelor’s in History from Kean University in Union, New Jersey, and a Post Bachelor’s degree in Physical & Health Education (K-12). He is certified by the State of New Jersey to teach Physical Education and Health.
In 2013, Mr. Mikros co-presented a workshop at the ECIS Physical Education Conference, Surrey Sports Park, England, titled “Ice-breakers, Bonding Activities for the First Days of School”.
Mr. Mikros is an emergency responder (CPR/First Aid for adult/child/infant) a certified wall climbing instructor, and a certified lifeguard.
He has been a member of the ACS Athens faculty since 2005 teaching in the elementary school, middle school and high school. This year Mr. Mikros will be teaching physical education in the middle school.
Mr. Mikros is also the coach for both the Junior Varsity Boy’s Soccer and Middle School Track & Field Teams.
Mr. Giannos Konstantopoulos studied Physical Education & Sports Science in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is holder of FA’s Level 1 in Coaching Football.
His professional education includes FA’s online Continuous Professional Development to Introduction to Equality & Diversity and Long-Term Player Development. Also, he participated to World Football Academy Symposium in 2019 and he is certified as a Smartfootball Coach Level 1.
His research experience includes the poster session presented in 15 th European Congress of Sport and Exercise Psychology titled as ‘’Examining the link between personality and positive emotions’’, Munster, Germany.
Mr. Konstantopoulos is certified in Emergency First Aid, Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Safeguarding Children.
As of this year, he will be one of the coaches of Recreational Soccer (for grades 3-5) and one of the Soccer Academies Coaches.
Mr. Konstantopoulos was born in Athens and raised both in Athens and London.
Ms. Efi Karatopouzi earned her BA with a specialization in Track and Field at the School of Physical Education and Sports Science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2017, she earned her B.A. in Child Psychology at the University of the Aegean. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in School Psychology. She holds a degree in Yoga and has participated in personal development courses on teaching methods for large classes as well as teaching physical education to kids with autism. She is an official Archery, Track and Field, and National Nordic coach.This year Ms Karatopouzi earned a Mindfulness certificate in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) from the University of Michigan. She holds a life-guarding certification from the Red Cross. Ms. Karatopouzi was born in Greece and grew up in Australia and Greece.
Ms. Karatopouzi has a rich experience in physical education. She has worked as a fitness teacher for many years in several sports clubs for adults and children and as a volunteer physical education teacher at Zanneio Institution, where she worked with abused children. She has been a member of the Greek National Track & Field team for 15 years and has competed in national and international competitions in Greece and abroad. She is co-founder and co-creator of Fitness Nordic. She is also the author of a children's book on exercise; a new way to make kids' fantasy work with creativity by listening and exercising.
Ms. Karatopouzi began working at ACS Athens in 2016 as a Physical Education Teacher in the Elementary School and has undertaken different posts in the Athletic Department in all three schools and in ACS Athens Summer Camp. In 2017, she piloted a mindfulness program, called Mind Body Soul (MBS) for students in Junior Kindergarten classes, which will continue to run this year. The MBS Program is also continuing in a very positive way in all classes in Elementary school She presented her research findings about this pilot program at the International Mindfulness Convention, held in Slovenia. She has also offered her services voluntarily to the Youth to Youth Program at ACS Athens. She also presented a workshop on mindfulness strategies to use in the physical education classroom at the ECIS Physical Education Conference in Barcelona.
Mr. Tsichlas was born and raised in Athens, Greece.
He earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education & Sports Science from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in Swimming. He is also a certified lifeguard, and an emergency responder (CPR/First Aid for adult/child/infant).
Over the past years Mr. Tsichlas has worked as a swimming coach in swimming clubs, in after school activities (swimming), and in the ACS Athens swimming academy. He is a member of the Coaches Association of Swimming, Water Polo, and Diving, as well as a licensed professional coach of swimming (Level A), as administered by the General Secretariat of Sports. He has attended several seminars organized by the National Federation of Swimming, and the swimming coaches association.
This year Mr. Tsichlas is coaching the ACS Athens Middle School Swimming team.
Ms.Natasha-Natalia Antoniou was born in New York, USA and raised in Athens, Greece. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Sports Science from the International and Kapodistrian University of Athens specializing in Swimming and Waterpolo. She has a coaching license by the general secretariat of sports and she is a certified lifeguard (CPR, first aid for infant, child, adult). Moreover, she has a baby swimming certificate and has also been a physical educator for kids with special needs.
Ms. Antoniou has been a swimmer since the age of three; some years later she joined water polo and had been a member of the junior national team of Greece. Ms. Antoniou has worked as a coach for ten years at the club team Okeanos where she was also an academy supervisor. For the past two years she is a coach for the club of Panathinaikos (at the Olympic stadium). With both teams, Ms. Antoniou has participated in various competitions with her athletes all over Greece. Ms. Antoniou has been working at ACS Athens for the past three years during summer camp. As of this year she will also be coaching in the after school Swimming Academy.
Ms. Fergione was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She holds a B.Sc. in Public Health Studies from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a M.Sc. in Counseling Psychology & Psychotherapy from the American College of Greece. Additionally, she is a member of the European Federation of Sport Psychology.
She is a certified gymnastics instructor and has been coaching recreational and competitive gymnastics since 2012. She is also U.S. Center for SafeSport trained. She started teaching gymnastics at ACS at summer camp this year and this will be the first year she is teaching gymnastics as a recreational program at ACS.
Ms. Fergione has been involved in artistic gymnastics, which includes the events vault, balance beam, uneven bars, and floor exercise, since the age of 4. She was an athlete in USA Gymnastics' Junior Olympic Program and then through college competed on UNC Wilmington's club gymnastics team. Currently she trains in the circus disciplines aerial hoop, aerial silks, and trapeze.
Mr. Panagiotis Katsaitis was born and raised in Corinth, Greece and is currently studying Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus.
He started practicing archery at the age of 11 and he is a member of the Greek national team since 2013. Mr. Katsaitis has participated in international competitions, including the 2013 World Youth Championship in Wuxi, China. He has earned a lot of distinctions in the Greek national league as well as the Greek Cup and he is the national indoor champion for 2019. He is also a certified archery coach.
As of this year, Mr. Katsaitis will be the coach of Recreational after school Archery.
Mark Papasifakis is an ACS alumni who has studied Shotokan Karate since his teens while still a student at ACS. He was awarded his 1st Degree Black Belt(1 Dan) by the Japan Karate Association and the Greek Karate Association. He attained the rank of 2nd Dan under the strict guidance and supervision of the Greek Karate Association where he remains currently active, training and further perfecting his skills.
He is a qualified Instructor and working towards acquiring his 3rd Dan and further certification as a competition judge and official examiner. His exams are scheduled to take place in December of 2019. His teacher and mentor, Sensei Dimitris Kazakeas, is the Chief Instructor of the Greek Karate Association. He will be supervising and visiting ACS on a regular basis during the academic year, assisting Mark and his students as they strive towards technical excellence and character building through the diligent study of Traditional Shotokan Karate.
