Elementary School Program Winter/Spring 2025-26

Weekly schedule

The program will continue to run with the following parameters for the majority of the activities:

• Young students (JK, KG) will wait in their classrooms to be picked up by the instructors and escorted to their activity.
• All other grade-level students must walk to the designated meeting place prior to the beginning of the activity. 
• Parents/Guardians picking up their child(ren), must be prompt for the pick up time @ 17:00.
  Please note that there is no supervision available.
• Snacks will not be provided. We encourage students to bring a healthy snack from home.
• If your child is sick or absent during the school day, he/she is not allowed to participate in any after-school activities.
• In the case of rain, the outdoor activities sessions will take place indoors with alternative plans.
• The session dates, costs, and meeting points for every sport are provided below.
  In the event that a session needs to be canceled, parents/guardians will be notified, and every effort will be made to reschedule the missed session(s) before the end of the program.
• For any emergencies or any needed communication after school hours (after 16:00), you may call: 30 698 3329849 (Ms. Maria Giannikopoulou) or 210.6070.294 / 210.6070.240 / 210.6070.235 / where a staff member will be on duty until all the after-school activities have been completed.

Activities Fees & Deadlines:

There is a predetermined cost per activity to help pay for the instructor's time and materials; please see the activities sections below.
Please note that if minimum registration is not met, the activity may be canceled. In such an event, you will be contacted by the Athletic Office.

Registration & Cancellation Protocols

• If registration for the activity takes place before 50% of the total number of sessions are completed, then the entire fee is required (100%).
• If registration for the activity takes place after 50% of the total number of sessions are completed, then 50% of the fee is required.

Cancellation Policy

• If a student wishes to withdraw from an activity before the second session, a full credit refund is given for another activity.
• If a student wishes to withdraw from an activity after the second session and before 50% of the total sessions are completed, then 50% of the activity fee is credited for another activity.
• No credit will be offered If a student wishes to withdraw from an activity after 50% of the total sessions are completed (except in the case of an injury or illness resulting in absence of three weeks or more).

Active Kids | Grades 1 - 2

A program designed to make kids enjoy and learn all Olympic sports and beyond. Children will work together, fostering cooperation and bringing out their best while playing and discovering new sports.

Archery | Grades 3 - 5

Future archers will learn basic techniques, safety rules, competition procedures and will have the chance to enjoy shooting through fun games and competitions.

Advantages gained through archery training include:

* Increased levels of concentration * Reduced stress * Sharpened mind * Toned the upper body * Strengthened the back * Does not require specific body skills

Art Challenge | Grades 1 - 2

Elementary school students will create a different art project as a challenge each day, with the challenges chosen based on the season, various national days, and educational value.

During these art classes, the students will eagerly await the daily creative challenge. Each day brings a new and exciting project, tailored to the changing seasons and special occasions. No matter the project, the instructor ensures that each challenge not only sparks the students' artistic expression but also reinforces important educational concepts, such as color theory, dimensional design, or the natural world. Through these engaging, themed activities, the young artists develop their skills, explore their creativity, and gain a deeper appreciation for the world around them.

Basketball | Grades 1-2

A fun activity for students who would like to learn and practice basketball fundamentals. Students will work together and learn the basic principles of smooth collaboration.

Location: Outdoor small Basketball Court / Rainy Day Location: MS Room 6

Day: Tuesday OR Friday
Students may choose to participate either on Tuesdays or Fridays, but please note that attending both days is not permitted.

Students will work on their basketball skills through fun and entertaining drills and games. They will also be encouraged to work together and learn the basic principles of smooth collaboration.

Chess | Grades 2 - 5

Chess is the most popular game ever invented. The benefits of chess to children are endless! It strengthens mental clarity, fortitude, and stability. It develops decision-making and patience and builds focused concentration. Above all, it's fun! This course will provide lessons tailored towards the skills of the children, combined with supervised training games.

Comic Club | Grades 3-5

In the school's art room, students gather excitedly for their comic creation workshop. Under the guidance of their art teacher, they embark on a journey to bring their own unique comic characters and stories to life. The teacher provides helpful handouts and templates, outlining the essential elements of comic design, from panel layouts to speech bubbles. By the end of the session, each student proudly displays their self-made comic, ready to share their imaginative tale with the world.

Grow Up with Sports | Grades JK - KG

A program focused on helping children develop healthy, strong bodies by enhancing their balance, running, jumping, and throwing skills through engaging, story-like activities. This unique approach will help young kids feel secure and build their confidence.

Gymnastics | Grades 3 - 5 NEW!

Gymnastics in school is a fun and active way for students to build strength, flexibility, and coordination. It involves learning skills like balancing, tumbling, and jumping in a safe and supportive environment. Students not only improve their physical fitness but also develop confidence, discipline, and teamwork.

Kids Athletics | Grades 3 - 5

A program that teaches and trains children in track and field through engaging and playful activities. Kids will develop their confidence, agility, coordination, and speed while having fun.

Parkour | Grades 1 - 2 & Grades 3-5

Parkour is an activity that exercises the whole body. Taught by qualified instructors in a safe and structured environment, Parkour at ACS Athens is a fairly new activity that will challenge the Elementary students. Students of all ES grades can take part in this activity and they will be divided into two groups.

Soccer for young children who would like to have fun, while learning the basic Soccer skills. This activity supports teamwork through engaging and entertaining drills.
