Last week was Math Week at ACS Athens, and grade 7 students had the opportunity to participate in a Virtual Math Bowl during their math classes!

The Math Bowl event is designed to give students of different ability levels in grade 7 the opportunity to apply skills in mathematics.

It’s a competition that gives students the drive and eagerness to complete as many activities as possible to accumulate the highest score.

Participating students were divided into groups of 4-5 in break-out rooms and asked to solve a series of fun activities that required problem-solving skills, computational skills, visual perception skills and logical reasoning.

Students were also asked to make an intelligent “guesstimate” of candies in a jar, receiving points for accurate estimations.

Here are the teams that got the highest scores and ranked for first, second and third place:

First Place

  • Nora Myers
  • Xin Yang Cheng
  • George Glavas
  • Konstantinos Milios

Second Place

  • Vasiliki Drakou
