Parmaki, Georgia, Faculty, 2nd Grade

Ms. Georgia Parmaki will be teaching second grade at ACS Athens for the second year. She brings to her classroom a deep love for literacy and writing, and she believes in fostering meaningful connections that spark curiosity about the world across all subjects. Through interactive lessons and projects, she encourages her students to think critically, collaborate, and embrace challenges with a growth mindset. Her goal is to nurture both academic and emotional growth, helping each child gain confidence, discover their unique strengths, and develop resilience as learners and as members of their school community.
Ms. Parmaki is a passionate and skilled educator with extensive experience in early childhood and elementary education. Her teaching journey spans Grades 1 through 4 in New Jersey and Greece, as well as many years in Pre-K and Kindergarten. Her teaching internships were in New York City, focusing on Grades 2 through 4.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Rutgers University and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Columbia University Teachers College. She is certified to teach JK–8 in New Jersey and EFL in Greece.
Born in Melbourne, Australia, and raised in the United States by Greek parents, Ms. Parmaki values cultural awareness and diversity. She is committed to lifelong learning, pursuing professional development in play-based teaching, inclusivity, literacy, heart-centered methodology, and experiential curricula at institutions such as Bank Street College and the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project.
As a founding teacher at a New Jersey charter school, she championed inclusive, student-centered approaches. Her Master’s project focused on creating an interdisciplinary immigration curriculum for Grades 2–4, combining literacy, social studies, and science. She has also designed engaging programs such as Jr. Kitchen Chemistry, Jr. Reporters, Young Actors Club and contributed to the development of a public-school Mathematics Lab Studio.
At ACS Athens, Ms. Parmaki looks forward to cultivating a dynamic classroom where curiosity, collaboration, and creativity thrive. She is dedicated to empowering her students to grow both academically and emotionally, helping them become confident, resilient, and thoughtful learners ready to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
