Coklas, Marla, Faculty, Social Studies Division

Ms. Coklas is Greek-American and was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She received her B.A in Psychology from DePaul University of Chicago with a minor in History (Type 1197), an M.A in Education (specializing in Curriculum and Design) from St. Xavier University of Chicago (2000), and her Teaching Certification from the State of Illinois (2000). Ms. Coklas has also studied at the University of Indianapolis (Athens campus): which has brought her closer to earning an M.B.A.

Ms. Coklas has been in education since 2000. Back in Chicago, Ms. Coklas was the co-founder and co-creator of the Oak Lawn/ Hometown school district's Mentor program. She was invited to speak/ present workshops at several Tri-State area Conferences on the importance of Mentor Programs for beginning teachers and Classroom Management. She has been an active administrator and faculty member of ACS Athens since 2008. Ms. Coklas is currently teaching American Studies (10) and Grade 11/12 Psychology/Sociology courses for the 2023-2024 academic year. She has also taught in the Elementary school. Middle School, Academy IB Psychology Years 1 & 2 and the Topics in Modern History courses.

She deeply appreciates and respects the superb level of education ACS Athens provides and will support our students (at any grade level) to achieve their goals and future endeavors.
