In September 2019, ACS Athens’ Elementary School student, Odysseas Nikephoros Kanavos, was chosen by the National Opera of Greece for its Children’s Chorus. The two separate auditions involved him singing his selected song a cappella, and then executing group and individual voice exercises as requested by the Chorus’ director.

In response to the open call, Odysseas auditioned with the song “You raise me up” which he had sung for the first time at his grade’s performance in the last ACS Athens Winter Concert. He attributes his success not only to the many years of piano practice and his piano teacher but also to the outstanding music education that ACS Athens delivers to its students. Odysseas was especially grateful to Mr. Rhodell Fields, Middle School and Academy music teacher, for his encouragement and invaluable advice, and to Ms. Peggy Apostolou, the Elementary School music teacher, for her continuous guidance and for “inspiring students to really love music”! ACS Athens is proud of his achievement!
