The Office of Student Affairs would like to highlight one of our very own 8th grade students, Avra Petrou. Avra recently received the annual NESA "Stanley Haas/Luke Hansen Award", a very competitive cash award given to Middle School students among all NESA region participating schools.

This award is given to students who model the character traits that we value most in our students: persistence, a willingness to take risks, acceptance of other cultures and points of view, and a genuine interest in and demonstrated, sustained commitment to the welfare of others. Through the guidance of our Language Arts teacher and NESA representative, Mrs. Ria Maratou, Avra's presentation made our final cut within applications from ACS Athens, and was then selected as one of only four finalists among all participating NESA schools!

Avra continues to take genuine interest and care in her community and her drive is evident in everything she undertakes and all the work she has done and continues to do with our Youth-to-Youth program, Honor Code Club, the Incubator, and the S.T.A.R.T. club.

Congratulations to Avra Petrou!
