The 4th Grade classes were visited by two paralympic athletes, Mr. George Lazarids and Mr. Babis Stefanos, along with their tennis coach, Mr. George Kontos. They provided students with a brief presentation and question and answer session describing wheelchair tennis.

The players brought additional wheelchairs and hosted a guided demonstration so students can see firsthand what playing tennis is like for wheelchair users.  Students not only had a chance to ask questions and to see how the game is played in this way, but were also given the opportunity to play tennis, while they themselves were using a wheelchair.

This was a wonderful experience for students who have been studying the Ancient and Modern Olympic games as part of their Social Studies curriculum, with a specific focus on the ideals and values of the Olympics - Excellence, Friendship, and Respect.
