The first of two information sessions on Data Privacy issues took place today at ACS Athens, with faculty and staff of the school attending.

The GDPR presentation, prepared and presented by John G. Papadakis, Certified Data Protection Officer, included concepts of Data Privacy in the EU, the rights of data subjects, and how educational organizations should protect those rights in the schools.

The session was preceded by an online survey that was sent to all staff and faculty -  and completed by the vast majority, while questions were addressed on the theoretical and practitioner level.

According to Mr. Papadakis, "Participants were reminded that Data Privacy is a major concern, especially during the times of increasing online presence and activity of students, faculty, and families."

These information sessions take place annually as part of the professional development and new faculty orientation program of ACS Athens.
