We are pleased to share with you that this year our trip will accomplish an additional IB Diploma and ACS Athens goal, collaboration of service activities with other IB world schools. This is the second year that the International School of Athens (ISA) will join us in our effort to create a network of educational institutions to support and maintain in cooperation with the Nature Association of Ancient Olympia, the Botanical Garden of Ancient Olympia. We are very pleased to continue this educational collaboration in order to promote long-term community service initiatives. Below is an overview of the learning goals of our trip as well as a description of the planned activities to achieve the learning goals.

The trip focuses on achieving three Academic and Social Learning Goals:

  1. Citizenship development
  2. Scientific reasoning
  3. Writing to learn

The above goals are supported through 3 strands of activities:

  1. The Botanical Garden of Ancient Olympia project
  2. The Therapeutirion of Lehainon and the Home of the Elderly project
  3. The Experiential Learning Activities at Lake Kaifa, the Museum and the Archaeological Site as well as Workshops, reflective discussion sessions, writing seminars aiming to connect social and academic learning to their experiences from the trip.
