Our travels this Fall season began at home in Athens where our Cross Country team hosted the ISAA cross country meet, welcoming schools from across Europe to compete under our warm, sunny skies. Our runners excelled, achieving multiple successes. The Varsity Girls team secured 6th place, while the Varsity Boys team finished in 4th. Our young JV teams were exceptional, with the JV Girls claiming 3rd place and the JV Boys capturing 1st! Standout performances included JV runners Jasper Hirano taking 1st place, Shangze Li in 3rd, and Xinyan Mo placing 4th out of an impressive field of 44 runners. In the JV Girls category, Ami Koyama placed 5th out of 33 runners, showcasing the strength and potential of our teams!

Meanwhile, in Vienna, the Varsity Boys Volleyball team displayed exceptional determination. They entered the semifinals undefeated, but narrowly missed a spot in the finals after a grueling, hard-fought three-set match loss against the host team, Vienna. The boys bounced back from the heartbreaking loss with determination and clinched the bronze medal! All-Star honors went to team captain Panayioti Simigiannis and George Petrantonakis for their outstanding performance.

A few hundred miles away in Eindhoven, the Varsity Girls Volleyball team was striving for a repeat of last year’s first-place victory. After an undefeated run in pool play, they faced an intense and emotional match against TASIS, suffering their first loss of the tournament. However, they rebounded with a strong performance on Saturday morning, securing their spot in the finals. Despite their momentum, they ultimately took home the silver medal. All-Star nominations went to captain Maria Gnardelli and Sophia Spanoudaki. Silver suits this young, promising team!

Just a short distance away at The Hague, the Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer teams braced the cold weather as they played hard! The Varsity Boys team, despite finishing first in their pool, encountered fierce competition. In a tough match against BSB, they could not hold on to the draw, and lost two goals in the last 3 minutes of the game. The boys however finished a respectable 6th place in a competition that brought together 14 schools from the ISAA organization. Marlon Ganzert earned an All-Star nomination.

On an adjacent field also by the British School in the Netherlands, the Varsity Girls Soccer team went undefeated in their tournament run. In a nail-biting final, young eighth grader Niki Mitrelia scored a goal in the last four minutes, securing a historic Division 2 first-place victory—last achieved in 1987! This fantastic season ended with All-Star honors for captain and senior Evgenia Dourida and tournament MVP recognition for eighth-grader Melina Chatziioannou.

Congratulations to all our athletes and their coaches!
