Garner, Irene, Faculty, 4th Grade

Ms. Irene Garner was born in Dubai, UAE and raised between Greece and the United States.  She completed her studies from the University of Houston graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and minor in International and European Studies.  Ms. Garner earned her teaching certification in grades JK-6 and is certified in English as a Second Language.   In addition, she is a trained educator in Project Lead the Way, a project-based STEM curricula program. 

Ms. Garner has worked teaching grades 3 and 5 and has extensive training and experience with special populations, including gifted and talented students and learners with learning differences.  She has attended workshops on social and emotional support for children through times of trauma and stress.  Recently, she completed various training and webinars on online learning through her memberships with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and National Science Teaching Association.

For 15 years prior to her teaching career, Ms. Garner worked for educational institutions as an accountant and auditor where she collaborated closely with teachers and administrators.  As a former student at ACS Athens, Ms. Garner is very excited to be teaching and helping students gain a better understanding of the world and their place in it.
