Spring Sports Coaches

Igor Schoenefeld - Varsity Tennis

Mr. Igor Schoenefeld was born in Dusseldorf, Germany. He attended the University of Sports Science in Koln, Germany and has received all levels of Tennis training diplomas recognized by ITF. He has worked as an assistant tennis instructor at Universities tennis teams and at the Dusseldorf Tennis academy. In addition, he has attended many seminars in tennis conditioning and coordination training. He has been at ACS Athens for the past 4 years, and manages the ACS Athens Tennis Academy. He is the head coach of the High School tennis team.

Chris Kourtis - JV Tennis

Mr. Chris Kourtis was born and raised in Athens Greece. He holds a bachelor degree in Physical Education & Sport Science specialized in tennis from the University of Athens. He has attended several seminars organized by the National Federation of tennis instructors. He has also attended the ITF seminar “lineumpire”. Mr Chris Kourtis is teaching tennis since 2001 in several tennis clubs and in 2007 he joined the ACS Athens Tennis Academy and  the JV Tennis team. Besides his tennis background, he is actively involved in teaching swimming since 2009, in all the school levels (elementary, middle and high school). He is a certified lifeguard and has successfully completed an emergency first response course that follows current guidelines for emergency patient care.

Angelos Dimitropoulos - Track & Field

Mr. Angelos Dimitropoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He holds a Bachelor degree in Sport Science & Physical Education from the University of Athens and has a Master degree in Sports Management from the University of Lyon. He has been at ACS Athens as a Physical Education teacher and coach for the past 6 years. In addition, Mr. Dimitropoulos has worked as an assistant coach in Division I basketball club teams and has instructed a number of baseball and basketball clinics. In addition, he has played an active role in coaching the track & field teams over the past 4 years. 

Vasilis Mikros - Track & Field

Mr. Vasilis Mikros was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey and raised both in East Rutherford, New Jersey and in Greece. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Kean University Union, New Jersey and a Post Bachelor in Health and Physical Education from the same University.  He has been a teacher at ACS Athens for the past 6 years, coaching the first two years the Junior Varsity soccer and tennis teams, and for the past three years both the Varsity boys soccer and track & field teams. Mr. Mikros has participated in numerous State and National Physical Education Conventions, Seminars and Soccer Clinics both in the United States and in Greece.    

Nick Naoum - Track & Field

Mr. Naoum was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. He holds a coaching certificate in soccer. He has been at ACS Athens for the past 12 years. He has coached boys and girls soccer at all levels as well as the track & field teams for over a decade. As an athlete he has played soccer in semi-pro level and was a member of the Belgian league for the team of Anderlecht. He is also an ACS Athens alumnus (class of 1979).
