VanSteenis, Skylar Hale, B.A.
Faculty Educator
The American International School of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

As a recent graduate from Michigan State University’s Secondary Teacher Preparation Program(USA), Skylar VanSteenis has brought his training into practice by developing engaging and meaningful lessons to the students learning at the American International School of Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). His main teaching strategies focus on cooperative learning mixed with critical pedagogy to ensure students see issues from multiple perspectives. Skylar believes education is a great medium to empower students to take strides in making their lives, their community, and our planet a safer and healthier place. By encouraging student creativity and expression, social learning, and reflection through bridging the classroom experience to the human experience, Skylar meets students on their level to bring them into greater awareness of world processes and conditions.

At AISJ, Skylar teaches Ancient World History, Economics, and Survey to Humanities. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Science, focusing on Public Policy Studies, Economics, and Sociology from Michigan State University.
