Social Studies Awards
European Council of International Schools (ECIS) Student Award
The Social Studies Department is pleased to sponsor the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) Student Award again this year. This award has traditionally been reserved for graduating seniors and is thus awarded at the end of year Graduation ceremony. The recipient of this award receives an award certificate and pin from ECIS, as well as a congratulatory letter.
Nominations for this award are made by Academy Faculty in the spring. The Social Studies Department collects these nominations, reviews them and chooses a recipient for the ECIS award.
A graduating senior is eligible for this award and must have the following qualities as described by ECIS:
“Awarded to a student who is a good representative of their own country, with a positive attitude toward the life and culture of others, able to converse in at least two languages, a contributing force in the life of the school, with the ability to bring differing people together into a sense of community, thus furthering the cause of international understanding”.
