Principal's Coffee Agenda - Month of May 2012

Dear Parents,

Our last coffee for the year! We are down to the final stretch. There is so much we have to celebrate for this year. We are lucky to have had such an active and supportive PTO. On behalf of the entire Middle School faculty and staff, allow me to thank all of you for your support throughout the year!

Our 8th grade prom, the theme this year is Hollywood Red Carpet, is going to be a glamorous night on May 25th from 8:30pm-12:00am. We are proud of our student’s accomplishments and successes and at the same time sad that soon they will be graduating from our school. I believe we have done a fine job preparing them for the Academy. Their recent diligent efforts in the beach clean-up activity at Kavouri beach, with the US Ambassador, were commendable.

This month of 6th grade students will experience the Walk of Athens,  as an integral part of our Social Studies  Curriculum, and our 7th graders will go off to the Planetarium to view a documentary called the Day Star and then view the Science and Technology Exhibit  as an integral part of our science curriculum.

Enriching our students learning, through multiple and diverse activities, enables them to become well balanced global citizens of the future.

The Exam Schedule for May- June is final. Please mark these important dates on your calendar and schedule summer vacation plans around these dates. We strongly recommend that all students are present for all exam dates. MAP testing in June should not be missed, as this assessment is the last of three assessments for this year. Thank you:

FINAL EXAMS in Foreign Languages, ESL/EFL and Math classes for all Middle School students 6-8 are scheduled during the month of June. Please be aware that these exams are administered during class time and are cumulative from September. Eighth grade students will sit for LA, Social Studies and Science exams in addition to the previously mentioned exams. Please note that for the 8th grade students, these core subject exams will count for 20% of their semester grades, they will be administered each in one day and will be 2 1/2 hours examinations. Once 8th graders complete their daily exam, they will need to go home to study for the next day’s exam. Thank you for planning from now, for students to have ample time to study for these examinations.
