ACS Athens - American Community Schools - Middle School Recreational Sports Program

Winter-Spring Session 2013

The Recreational Sports Programs for the session (winter-spring) are now available to all Middle School Students. We urge everyone to explore these opportunities and to join the activity of their choice.

Please note that any students wishing to participate in the activities presented below can ride the Late Area buses which depart at 5:45 every day; these buses go to specific areas and do not provide “door to door” service. Please check the website to determine if any of the buses suit your needs.
SWIMMING SESSION begins on January 21st. Registration must take place prior to that date to secure a spot. Sign ups however can continue after this date provided there is space availability.
For TENNIS sign-ups, please contact the tennis office for a schedule and more information.
For any emergencies or any needed communication after school hours (16:00), you may call: 210-6393-200, ext. 217 or ext. 239 where a staff member will be on duty until all the after school activities end.
Parents must always give us the number of the cell phone we are to contact them on, in case we have an emergency on our end. Parents must always have their cell phone on and answer in case of an emergency. We kindly ask for parents to include an email address where announcements can be sent.
If your child is sick during the school day, he/she is not allowed to participate in any of the after school activities
IN CASE OF RAIN, THE SESSIONS WILL TAKE PLACE INDOORS WITH ALTERNATIVE PLANS (game videos, fitness and other). With light rain, soccer activity will take place.

Tennis

Group tennis lessons are offered every day; groups depend on level of play as well as time and session availability.

Cost : Cost varies according to student number in groups and times / week played.

Contact : For more information and a specific lesson PLAN you must contact Mr. Igor Schoenefeld at the tennis office. (Available daily at the tennis office by the tennis courts from 9-11 am. and 2:30 pm. - 5:30 pm.).

*** PLEASE NOTE THAT A SEPARATE REGISTRATION FORM is needed for TENNIS. Available at the Tennis Office.

Swimming

If your child is joining swimming now, you will need to come to the pool on September 17th at 3:45 in order to determine your child's swim level (student will have to be observed by the instructor).

In addition, you will need to provide a physical examination which will clear the child of any dermatological and other pathological conditions. (You can pick up the school health form from the Health Office).

Duration of classes : September 18^th - January 18^th

Level Placement day for NEW students : September 17th

Days Off : Swimming will not take place on the week of Thanksgiving and on October 24, 26 (Halloween Carnival), November 14, December 21

Cost : 180 €

The levels are determined by the instructors. You must consult with Ms. Athanasia Kotsiani.

*The swimming sessions depend on the levels of the participants; swimming will NOT take place on some days which will be communicated to you by the swimming instructors (see above).
