Elementary School Arts Academy - Jazz/Hip Hop Dance, Fall 2016 - Winter 2017

Recently Added Program

Upper Elementary School students (in grades 3 - 5), have a great opportunity to learn and enjoy Jazz and Hip Hop Dance that will lead to a performance at the Theater at ACS Athens in May.  The class goal is to produce physical and expressively well-trained dancers.   Most importantly, students are encouraged to relax, breathe and enjoy this exploration and to give it their best.

The classes begin on October 26, 2016 and run through January 18, 2017

Educational & Psychological Measurements - July 4 - 9, 2016

The Institute for Innovation and Creativity / Learning Enhancement Programs is proud to present a summer course for professionals : Educational & Psychological Measurements in Special Education.

The course is aimed at Psychologists, Counselors, Special Educators, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other professionals and will take place July 4 - 9, 2016, on the ACS Athens campus.

The course is designed to develop educator’s skills in formal and informal measurement and diagnostic techniques.   The course will provide instructional experiences that will bring an expansion of:

  • The theoretical concept of assessment
  • Practice with formal assessment instruments
  • Utilizing assessment data to program specifically for the special needs student
  • Interpreting assessment data in conferences with teachers and families

Summer Scholars' Academy, 2016

The Institute for Innovation and Creativity (IIC) currently accepts applications for its Summer Scholars' Academy Program - Summer of 2016 - for Middle and High School students (entering grades 9-12 in the upcoming academic year).

The program offers a variety of courses, in partnership with local educational/cultural institutions.   Courses will take place in the ACS Athens campus; outdoors in Athens; and at Megara & Athens International airports.

Please note that all of the courses provide students with the opportunity to earn high school credit in fulfillment of graduation requirements.

Non ACS Athens students are very welcome to attend on a space-available basis.

Description

This university-level course teaches students the fundamentals of creating and programming a robot to interact with its environment and perform basic tasks involving motion, sensor data and decision-making.  In the end each team will present its project/robot to the others.

The course combines robotics theory, and enhances students' understanding of mathematics (algebra, geometry), physics; hands-on computer programming; introduces students to electrical / mechanical engineering, and much more!

Learn about the principles of aviation and flight in an exciting program that combines in-class sessions, hands-on learning at the Athens International and Megara airports, and flight lessons with a state-of-the-art flight simulator.

Arts Tech Academy (Grades 4-6) : Robotics Course, Spring 2016

Students in grades 4 - 6, have a unique opportunity to gain a theoretical and hands-on experience in building Robots (LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Educational Robotics.)  The course combines engineering and design principles in collaborative work that develops the creativity, ingenuity and insight of the students.

The class which takes place in Spring 2016 also prepares interested students to participate in the Greek National Robotics Competition, to be held at the end of June!
