Course description

The course aims to familiarize students with Greek history, from the Golden Age of Pericles to the rise and fall of the Byzantine Empire in order to help them understand the context within which classical humanism was born. Through excerpts of ancient Greek and Byzantine literature, through research, project-based learning, and field studies, students will understand the immense impact of the Greek heritage on the development of the western world civilization. Students will be able to understand how classical humanism and byzantine spirituality infused their principles and values into a variety of domains, such as art and architecture, philosophy and politics, literature, and drama.

If enrollment in a course fails to reach the minimum number of participants required for the class to run, the class will be cancelled and tuition will be reimbursed.
