Course description

Art Appreciation 2 continues to look at art from an analytical, psychological, and historical perspective. This class will dive deeper into the concept of the artist as a storyteller, problem-finder, illusionist and activist. We will be looking at multiple contemporary and historical artists that give examples of these concepts. We will also learn more about the art elements and principles and practice them together in a series of art projects. Additionally, this course aims to teach students how they can use art as a career, meditation, or simply a relaxing hobby.

If enrollment in a course fails to reach the minimum number of participants required for the class to run, the class will be cancelled and tuition will be reimbursed.

Baldino, Steven

Steven Baldino received a Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting and Drawing from California State University Long Beach. He holds a K-6 elementary licensure and certification from the state of Florida. Mr. Baldino's experience in education includes teaching in the Californian private school sector, volunteering locally, teaching internationally, and tutoring privately. Prior to joining ACS, he taught visual arts for the Primary Years Program and Middle Years Program at Chatsworth Hills Academy, an International Baccalaureate school in Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Baldino is passionate about combining aspects of mindfulness with creativity in the class studio and the impact this can have on cultivating social-emotional skills. In his own art practice, he creates multimedia art and experimental electronic music that focuses on improvisation and aspects of self-exploration through the creative process.
