Early Childhood Program

(4 & 5 years old - Children entering Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten in September)

The ACS Athens Early Childhood Program focuses on developmentally appropriate ways to engage children in various educational, fun and creative activities.

English is the language of instruction and the daily schedule includes listening to and reading stories, authentic and fun writing activities to help strengthen pencil grasp and artwork. Basic mathematical concepts are also reinforced through the use of various games and toys (cubes, beads, pattern blocks etc). Children will also be exposed to a high-quality learning program that combines music, movement, singing, dancing and age-appropriate group games, which help and support the development of a variety of skills.

Also, a great deal of learning occurs through "free exploration", which is essentially classroom play involving cooperative learning and dramatic play.

The Early Childhood Education classroom follows a weekly thematic curriculum and all the activities are related to the theme of the week. During the day, children will also be engaged in sports activities, such as swimming, motor skills development and many more!
