Successful completion of ELA3 or appropriate score on the ACS Placement Test
This course is for proficient users of the language and those able to perform complex tasks related to their studies. Students understand a wide range of more demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning in them. They learn to express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for the right expression. They are exposed to the use of language efficiently, effectively, and purposefully for social, academic, and professional purposes. Upon completion of the course they can produce clear, well-structured, detailed texts on complex subjects, showing correct use of organizational patterns, syntactic and grammatical mechanics, connectors and cohesive devices. Students apply their skills in literary analysis and research. Oral skills are further developed through presentations, group discussions, and debates. The course corresponds to the C1 level of CEFR.
