Students develop their research as architects of their own learning

The annual Personal Project Exhibition took place on Friday, May 3 at ACS Athens. Ms. Theodora Panteli and Ms. Mary-Ann Augoustatos coordinated successfully the all-day event, where more than 90 students had the opportunity to present academic research posters and oral presentations.

The 10th-grade students had the flexibility to choose a research topic of their preference, work in depth on it individually or collectively and present it at the exhibition.

Once again, this year's displayed research was astonishing with a variety of disciplines from Physics, to Information Technology and from Math to Economics and Art. The presented work excelled both in academic standards as well as in innovation, complexity, creativity, and relevance with the current global issues.

"I am impressed by the quality of the presented work. Subject-wise, as an overall impression, I notice a shift towards the S.T.E.A.M. topics and also towards environmental issues. ACS Athens students are concerned about our planet's future and are eager to find solutions." Ms. Panteli commented about the exhibition.

Through the participation in the Personal Project Exhibition, the students develop valuable academic skills such as research, writing, critical thinking and presentation skills. At the same time, they reflect on topics that affect them and develop a problem-solving approach as thinkers and tomorrow's active citizens.

"Climate change", "The relationship between Intelligence and Academic Success", "Recycling at a Global Scale", "The attention span of Gamers", "The Presence of Female Athletes in Media Platforms", "Low Carbon Interior Design", "What is the probability of scoring from different positions in NBA", "Alternative Energy Planes and their Future": these are just a few of the questions posed throughout the exhibition by the students, who not only ask but also actively seek the answers!
