Earlier in May, ACS Athens hosted the International Kangaroo Mathematics competition for the first time, an event that was completed on Saturday, May 22.

As a hosting center, ACS Athens welcomed 190 students from grades 1- 12 to this competition which aims to promote mathematics as a subject approachable to anyone, encouraging students to develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

In the International Kangaroo Mathematics competition, a distinction is earned for the highest student performance; at a national level, one in six participants at the national level earns a distinction.

All ACS Athens students taking part in the competition received a gift package for their participation at school.

"I am moved by the response of our community in supporting the competition and registering students to participate. We had 190 participants across three schools with 150 elementary school students grades 1-5. In addition, 10 of our elementary students scored at the top of their level nationwide. Congratulations to all. I am hoping that next year we will be able to host the competition at our campus with a day-long celebration of Mathematics! I want to thank Kangaroo Hellas and Mr. Lambrou for an exceptional collaboration in administering the competition."

ACS Athens congratulates all students for their participation in this unique celebration of Mathematics!
