When ACS Athens Elementary School principal Ms. Andrikopoulos shared her vision to reintroduce theater to the elementary program and revive the 5th-grade play at ACS Athens, one name immediately came to mind: William Shakespeare.

There is no playwright more timeless, more transformative, or more universally resonant than Shakespeare. His work continues to inspire minds and move hearts across ages, backgrounds, and cultures—and it was the perfect way to reintroduce our young learners to the power of theater.

This year, our 5th grade students brought A Midsummer Night’s Dream to life with remarkable dedication, empathy, and imagination. They immersed themselves in Shakespeare’s whimsical world, exploring themes of love, friendship, order and disorder—and discovering the magic that lives in the arts.

Guided by their wonderful teachers—Ms. Bibidakis, Ms. Dimas, Ms. Kollintzas, and Ms. Oikonomidi—and supported by the creative talents of Varvara Voulgaraki, Tassos Benedatos, and Sophia Thanopoulou, this production, under the direction of Ms. Gkioni,  became a celebration of collaboration as much as it was a theatrical achievement.

Congratulations to the young performers for their reminder that with creativity, teamwork, and heart, anything is possible—even making Shakespeare accessible and unforgettable to a new generation.
