From Zoe Karatza, Elementary School Faculty

Last week was the Hour of Code week and students from around the world dove into Computer Science while working on coding activities! This year schools from more than 180 countries around the world have been registered and 85,694 events have been organized! The Elementary School of ACS Athens also registered and participated in this global movement!

During Technology classes, Kindergarten students collaborated and listed steps to move their characters around the map, 1st graders created a series of steps to move their character, Flurb, to get to the fruits, 2nd graders developed sequential algorithms to move the Angry Bird from one side of the maze to the pig at the other side and 3rd graders developed programs and created dance animations with code! Furthermore, 4th graders created their own game using basic block code by programming Ice Age characters and 5th graders got engaged in more challenging activities, developing their understanding of algorithms, loops, conditionals, and more!
