Annie Constantinides - Varsity Boys Basketball
Ms. Annie Constantinides was born in Cairo, Egypt. She earned a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and French Language at McGill University; she received an MA in Exercise Physiology from the same institution and an MSc in Sports Administration from Louisville University. Ms. Constantinides is an ACS Alumnus (class of ’79) and returned to ACS Athens as a Middle School Physical Education teacher in 1986. She has had a sports career in the sport of basketball by playing five years at college level and twenty years as a professional player for Greek club teams and the National Women’s team of Greece. She has also been a member of the National Greek Squash team and participated in European Championships. Ms. Constantinides was the event manager in a number of International Sports projects, with the highlights being her involvement in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the Athens 2004 Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is presently the Sport Manager for Softball for the Special Olympics World Games - Athens 2011. She is the recipient of the “Women and Sport” Award by the International Olympic Committee.
Angelos Dimitropoulos - Varsity Girls Basketball
Mr. Angelos Dimitropoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He holds a Bachelor degree in Sport Science & Physical Education from the University of Athens and has a Master degree in Sports Management from the University of Lyon. He has been at ACS Athens as a Physical Education teacher and coach for the past 6 years. In addition, Mr. Dimitropoulos has worked as an assistant coach in Division I basketball club teams and has instructed a number of baseball and basketball clinics. This is the 4th year of coaching the Varsity Boys Volleyball team.
Valia Efstathiou - JV Girls Basketball
Ms. Valia Efstathiou was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She holds a BS in Business Administration with emphasis in Marketing & Communication from the American College of Greece and received an MA in Sports Marketing & Communication from the University of Venice sponsored by the Euroleague Basketball Institute. Ms. Efstathiou has been with the Athletic Department for 4 years and is involved in all aspects of event and tournament organization. She has played organized basketball in the Greek league for many years (Sporting Club team) and is a proud Lancer, as she graduated from ACS Athens in 2002. She was a member of the Varsity Volleyball, Basketball and Track & Field teams and received the Female Athlete of the Year award that year. Ms. Efstathiou has worked in different sports events such as the FIBA 1st Eurostar game, Volleyball All-Star games, basketball camps and International sports tournaments. She has been the JV Girls basketball coach for the past 5 years.
Athanasia Kotsiani - High School Swimming
Ms. Athanasia Kotsiani was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She holds a Bachelor degree in Physical Education & Sports Science and has recently completed her Master in the same field. She has been at ACS Athens for the past 6 years, as a PE Middle School teacher, an aquatics instructor and as the High School swim team coach. She is also a certified lifeguard and swimming judge. In addition, she has worked as an aquatics volunteer during the Athens 2004 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
Jeff Kalas - Middle School Swimming
Newly arrived to ACS Athens, Mr. Kalas was raised in the Chicago area. He earned his MA in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He also holds an MA in School Leadership from Concordia University Chicago and a BA in Sociology from Eastern Illinois University, where he was a member of the school's NCAA Collegiate Swim Team. Mr. Kalas has spent many years playing on a Men's Club Water Polo Team, participating in matches throughout the midwestern United States. He is bringing his competitive swimming experience and passion for the water to the Middle School Swim Team this year.
