Scholarship Opportunities at ACS Athens

ACS Athens regularly provides opportunities for scholarships every year to a limited number of eligible students, in collaboration with a generous group of donors from the wider ACS Athens community.

2009-10 Athletic Scholarships Announced for basketball athletes

ACS Athens announces the 4th consecutive round of Athletics Scholarships for basketball players for the school year 2009-10. These scholarships are intended for new ACS Athens students entering 10th Grade and will cover a maximum of 3 years of tuition in ACS Athens.

The “Hasib Sabbagh & Diana Tamari Sabbagh” Athletic Scholarships will be awarded to two boys and two girls basketball athletes that will have to apply for admission by Thusday, April 30, 2009.

Scholarship Criteria

The recipients will be determined based on the following criteria:

  • Basketball skills and sportsmanship (coach recommendations required, if a member of a team)
  • Academic aptitude
  • English language skills - to be determined at a placement test session after applying
  • Positive personality and character
  • Willing to participate in basketball training sessions and games of the school team during the basketball season
  • Proven need of financial assistance

A personal interview and a tryout session in May will be required to demonstrate basketball skills, that will take place after the application deadline.

Purpose of Scholarship

The purpose of the “Hasib Sabbagh & Diana Tamari Sabbagh” Athletic Scholarships is to offer the opportunity to eligible students to attend the premier international school of Greece, while cultivating the prospects of scholarships in higher education institutions abroad. Scholarship recipients will be challenged in Academics and in Athletics, given a unique opportunity to access higher standard education while doing what they love: play basketball

The scholarship funds will be available to the recipients as long as they comply to the rules and regulations of the Athletic Scholarships, and the code of conduct of ACS Athens, as it is described in the school's policy.
