General Meeting, January 2012

  1. Welcome and Happy New Year!
  2. Dates to remember in January and February:
  3. - Parent Information Session – January 25th

    - Exams Start today for Middle and High School and end next Friday!

    - Feb. 7th – Wine and Cheese Night 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

  4. Board Reports
    • Treasurer Report – will report next month on what PTO’s funds will go to this year. Still waiting for quotes.
    • Middle School – would it be possible for parents to also be advised how the students from our school have fared compared to students from other schools, on average.
    • IB/AP Report – it was reported that there was noise during IB exams last year and students could not concentrate.
    • OM Report-Partnership in Success - Thursday January 19th at 9:30 am, at the ACS Athens Conference Center
    • Community Connections report- A family hike will take place on Sunday January 29th.

    Speaker: Dr. Matt Teale

    There is a growing body of evidence to support the long-held theory that control of balance, motor skills and integration of early reflexes are linked to academic achievement. The remedy is available in the form of a simple daily exercise program, which can be carried out at home for ten minutes every day.

    Next Session will take place on February 23rd and the topic will be “Everybody needs a friend”

  6. Sarah Holbrook ,author, educator and performer will visit our school  – February 6th - 8th.
  7. Imm Veropoulos – as per her familiy's wishes, donations can be made to the school, especially for the OLP Programs .
  8. Parent Information Session January 25th at 7:00 pm in the library.

Most of the parents were upset about the endowment fee that the school has added on to the fees. There were lots of questions as well as suggestions.

Next PTO meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 14th.
