Community service on the Middle School level spans across all grade levels. In the 6th grade, students focus on environmental causes such as supporting the organization, Archelon-Protection of the Sea Turtle Society. In the 7th grade, students make regular visits to the children and elderly at the Lyreion Orphanage.
ACS Athens, helped to establish their first library nearly 30 years ago. In the 8th grade, students have been supporting the children at Hatzipaterion for the last 15 years. ACS students have raised money to purchase three children's wheelchairs, a swing set, a video camera, books, toys and needed educational materials and supplies. Fundraising efforts soon will be underway
Love was in the air in February when our eighth graders hosted a Valentine Party for the Hatzipaterion children in the atrium on our ACS campus. Our students helped them make Valentines, play games, and share some snacks. Each child was also given a small gift for the occasion. It was a very rewarding time for all those involved.
