An Evening with Yannis Smaragdis, Director of “El Greco”

Join ACS Athens for an evening of cinema featuring Film Director Yannis Smaragdis, director of “El Greco,” in the theater of the Arts Center at ACS Athens on Thursday, December 17 2009 at 8:00pm.
The program will include a showing of the film “El Greco,” followed by a question-and-answer session with the director.
Entrance is free; donations will be accepted in support of the ACS Athens Village Project, a school-wide community service initiative.

Greek Film Director Yannis Smaragdis was born in Crete in 1946 and studied film in Greece and Paris, France. He appeared in 1972 with his short film “Two Three Things” which received the first prize in the Athens Festival as well as a Special Mention in the Montreal Film Festival. Yannis Smaragdis has taught Mass Media courses at the Panteion University of Athens, as well as film direction and screenwriting at film schools in Greece. In 2007, he directed “El Greco,” a movie about the life of the Greek painter Domenicos Theotokopoulos, which is the most expensive co-production in the history of Greek cinematography.
