Guide to Admission
Please note that prior to registration, students must have applied and be admitted by the ACS Athens Admissions Committee. For a complete guide to Admissions, please click here.
The American Community Schools of Athens welcomes applications for admissions throughout the year. Please ensure that all of the following Admissions Procedures have been observed before you submit your child’s application to the Admissions Office.
New Student Admissions Procedures

- Submission of ACS Athens Application for Admission - Online or Printed Form
- All report cards/transcripts - submitted in a sealed envelope (for high school, from grade 9 to current grade) - if not in English, transcripts must be officially, translated
- Two Teacher Recommendation Forms submitted by the previous school faculty (for grades 6-12 only)
- Completed Special Education Services Form submitted by the previous school faculty (for ALL grades)
- Medical forms (may be submitted within one month of acceptance)
- Copies of passport and/or other citizenship documents
- An interview with the child (Elementary School and when deemed necessary)
- Confidential Records (if any)
- Admissions test to all students coming from a non-American curriculum school (to be arranged by appointment with the Admissions Office).
PLEASE NOTE THAT RECEIPT OF THE ABOVE RECORDS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE STUDENT WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Once parents are informed of their child’s acceptance, they are requested to submit to the school office within one month the following documents:
For students who do not have a Greek Surname:
- Certificate from Consulate of respective country of student verifying citizenship.
For students who have a Greek Surname:
- Birth Certificate in Greek (needed for JK, K, and Grade 1)
- Letter from Consulate of respective country verifying citizenship in Greek
- For students attending Grades 2-9, previous school records translated into Greek
- Greek Ministry Form to be filled out (will be given by School Secretary).
STUDENTS WHO ARE GREEK PASSPORT HOLDERS WHO NEED A PERMIT FROM THE GREEK MINISTRY OF EDUCATION IN ORDER TO ATTEND ACS (GRADES JK-9) (following acceptance):
- Must sign an application addressed to the Ministry of Education, asking for the transfer of student from the Greek school to ACS Athens (forms available in the individual school buildings).
- Parent must provide certificates and transcripts for at least the last four (4) consecutive years of child’s attendance in an English-language school outside Greece. These certificates should be originals or notarized photocopies. Also, these documents must be translated into Greek.
- The above documents, once acquired must be submitted to the respective Building Secretary.
