Angelos Dimitropoulos - Varsity Boys Volleyball
Mr. Angelos Dimitropoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He holds a Bachelor degree in Sport Science & Physical Education from the University of Athens and has a Master degree in Sports Management from the University of Lyon. He has been at ACS Athens as a Physical Education teacher and coach for the past 6 years. In addition, Mr. Dimitropoulos has worked as an assistant coach in Division I basketball club teams and has instructed a number of baseball and basketball clinics. This is the 4th year of coaching the Varsity Boys Volleyball team.
Valia Efstathiou - Varsity Girls Volleyball
Ms. Valia Efstathiou was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She holds a BS in Business Administration with emphasis in Marketing & Communication from the American College of Greece and received an MA in Sports Marketing & Communication from the University of Venice sponsored by the Euroleague Basketball Institute. Ms. Efstathiou has been with the Athletic Department for 4 years and is involved in all aspects of event and tournament organization. She has played organized basketball in the Greek league for many years and is a proud Lancer, as she graduated from ACS Athens in 2002. She was a member of the Varsity Volleyball, Basketball and Track & Field teams and received the Female Athlete of the Year award that year. Ms. Efstathiou has worked in different sports events such as the FIBA 1st Eurostar game, Volleyball All-Star games, basketball camps and International sports tournaments. She has been a volleyball coach at ACS Athens for the past 5 years.
Erin Miniotis - JV Boys Volleyball
Ms. Miniotis was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She holds a Bachelor degree in Physical Education and Health from the University of Toronto and a Master degree in Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences from Exeter University in the UK. She is presently completing her PhD in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy at Loughborough University. Ms. Miniotis has worked as a Physical Education teacher at various summer camps and has coached junior girls volleyball and soccer teams. She was involved in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games in the Sports Entries department, and as an athlete herself, she has been played volleyball in club teams in Athens and Toronto.
Therese Weimholt - JV Girls Volleyball
Ms. Therese Weimholt was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. She received a BA in English Literature and Secondary Education from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. After graduating, Ms. Weimholt began her career abroad as the national field director of an international non-profit in Ecuador, South America. This is Ms. Weimholt’s second year at ACS as a full time English teacher. This year Ms. Weimholt is teaching Language Arts to grades 6 and 7. She is involved in many aspects of student life. Ms. Weimholt has played organized volleyball at a competitive level for over 15 years. Additionally, she helped to coach girl’s varsity softball in Chicago, Illinois. She hopes that her firm belief in the connection of physical and mental health will cross over to her players.
Vasilis Mikros - Varsity Boys Soccer
Mr. Vasilis Mikros was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey and raised both in East Rutherford, New Jersey and in Greece. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Kean University Union, New Jersey and a Post Bachelor in Health and Physical Education from the same University. He has been a teacher at ACS Athens for the past 6 years, coaching the first two years the Junior Varsity soccer and tennis teams, and for the past three years both the Varsity boys soccer and track & field teams. Mr. Mikros has participated in numerous State and National Physical Education Conventions, Seminars and Soccer Clinics both in the United States and in Greece.
Nick Naoum - Varsity Girls Soccer
Mr. Naoum was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. He holds a coaching certificate in soccer. He has been at ACS Athens for the past 12 years. He has coached boys and girls soccer at all levels. As an athlete he has played soccer in semi-pro level and was a member of the Belgian league for the team of Anderlecht. He is also an ACS Athens alumnus (class of 1979).
Xenofontas Kourtis - JV Boys Soccer
Mr. Kourtis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He holds a bachelor degree in Physical Education from the University of Athens. As an athlete he has played soccer for various club teams in Athens (AO Argyroupolis, Diana Ilioupolis). He has been a soccer coach since 2005 (AONA, AO Argyroupolis) and currently coaches the men's team of DIANA Ilioupolis. This is Mr. Kourtis' first year of coaching at ACS Athens.
Vicki Klimou - JV Girls Soccer
Vicki Klimou was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in French Literature and Linguistics and a minor in Psychology (2006) at Simon Fraser University. This is Ms. Klimou’s second year teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade French. She is involved in many aspects of student life. She serves as French Club Advisor in the Middle School and the High School. Ms. Klimou is a certified soccer referee and has worked as a soccer referee for a number of years. Ms. Klimou has played organized soccer for over 15 years and also played varsity soccer, rugby and netball.
Rannelle McCoy - Cross Country
Rannelle McCoy was born in Athens, Greece and raised in several countries as a child of the U.S. military. She received a BA in History from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, an MA in History from The Ohio State University at Columbus, and an M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from Montana State University at Bozeman. Ms. McCoy has been at ACS Athens for 6 years, teaching social studies and coaching. She has served on various projects of the athletic department, including the 2007 SCIS Cross Country tournament at ACS and event administration. A proud alumna of the ACS Athens class of 1995, she is a former athlete of the year recipient and member of the varsity soccer, cross country, track and field and softball teams. Other athletics experience includes volunteering at the Athens 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games, in field hockey and 7 X 7 football respectively.
Dave Nelson - Cross Country
Mr. Nelson was born and raised in Oregon, USA. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Pacific University and a Master degree in Education from Western Oregon State University. He has been at ACS Athens for the past 10 years. He teaches American Studies and Theory of Knowledge. He has a vast experience with curriculum design and extra co-curricular activities. He has been a cross country and track and field athlete and has coached at all levels for the past 18 years.
