Research & Extended Learning
MYP Approaches to Learning
All Ninth and Tenth grade students participate in the Research Extended Learning course designed to explore the MYP Approaches to Learning, enhance students' study skills, develop civic responsibility skills, sharpen critical thinking skills, increase research skills and extend learning by working through educational software programs for SAT Prep, Career Education, and Technology Education.
During Research Extended Learning, students also are advised on their selection of courses, four year plans, extra curricular activities, college research and choices they must make to meet their academic goals.
By the end of the 10th grade Research Extended Learning course, students will have completed their culminating, year-long, MYP Personal Project and Personal Portfolio. Weekly class seminars are held by the Academy Counselor for grades 9-11. Additional seminars are held by the Librarian, Computer Technology instructor, College Advisor and ACS teachers.
