Elementary Sports After School Instructors

Kimberly Jones - Soccer for grades 3-5

Ms. Kimberly Jones is from Iowa where she studied art education at the University of Northern Iowa.  She holds a BA in k-12 Art Education.  After teaching elementary and middle school art in Iowa for one year she moved to Chicago and taught k-8 art in the Chicago Public Schools for three years.  Ms. Jones has always loved athletics and has participated in a number of sports.  Soccer has always been her favorite.  She’s played organized soccer for over 20 years.  Ms. Jones played Division I soccer at UNI and also ran the Women’s Club Soccer Team.  While in college she coached Junior Varsity High School Soccer and a U10 team.  She is excited to share her passion for athletics with the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade soccer players.

 

Ann Freeston - Soccer for grades 1-2

Ms. Freeston was raised in Rockford, Illinois and completed a Bachelor degree in Education at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Soon after graduating, Ms. Freeston moved to Portland, Oregon to begin her teaching career and complete her Master of Education degree at Lewis and Clark College. All of her life, Ms. Freeston has enjoyed
playing sports. She has competed in tumbling, cross country, basketball, and of course soccer. Ms. Freeston began playing soccer when she was 4 years-old and has never stopped. She has coached elementary boys soccer in the past and is very excited about coaching the 1st and 2nd graders this year. When Ms. Freeston is not coaching, she can be found teaching at the Middle School in the Optimal Match Program.

 

Stavroula Salouros - Soccer for grades JK-K

Ms. Stavroula Salouros was born and raised in New York.  She earned a BS in Physical Education from Adelphi University where she attended on a Coston Crouse scholarship. She then continued at Adelphi University and she received an MA degree in Health Education. She has been at ACS Athens for twelve years, and she is currently teaching in the Elementary School. She has been coaching Elementary After School Soccer for the past 4 years. 

 

 

Erin Miniotis - Basketball for grades 1-5

Ms. Miniotis was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She holds a Bachelor degree in Physical Education and Health from the University of Toronto and a Master degree in Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences from Exeter University in the UK. She is presently completing her PhD in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy at Loughborough University. Ms. Miniotis has worked as a Physical Education teacher at various summer camps and has coached junior girls volleyball and soccer teams. She was involved in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games in the Sports Entries department, and as an athlete herself, she has been played volleyball in club teams in Athens and Toronto.  

 

Taxiarhis Karalis - Karate 

Mr. Taxiarhis Karalis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Athens Theological University. He is a certified Consultant in : Dietology, Nutrition, Anti-Stress and Feng Shui. He is also certified in : Reflexology, Shiatsu Massage and Reiki Master. In 1974 Mr. Karalis started his Martial Arts training with art of Boxing and continued with Kick-Boxing. Over the last years, Mr. Karalis has studied and earned Black Belt ranks in the arts of Karate, JuJitsu, Taekwon-Do, Hapkido, Kick-Boxing, Aiki-Jujitsu, Karate-Jutsu etc. He has been a champion in All-Styles Hellas Karate Championships, under WKF (WUKO'S) regulations. He is a member of Hellas All Styles Karate Team with European and Mediterranean participation. He holds an 8th degree black belt and has been the Karate instuctor at ACS Athens for over a decade.
