Elementary School Assistant Principal

ACS Athens, a student-centered international school, embracing American educational philosophy, principles and values, is seeking to recruit an Elementary School Assistant Principal for the school year 2019 - 2020. The Assistant Principal reports to the Elementary School Principal.

Basic Function & Scope:

  • Assists Elementary School Principal (JK-5);
  • Supervises at the direction of the principal and assists in the completion of administrative details and tasks required to maintain an efficient operational pattern of the school;
  • Co-organizes and participates in Advisory Programs.

Essential & Other Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the Acting Principal in the absence of the Elementary School Principal;
  • Assists Principal in JK-5 Curriculum Developments (JK-5);
  • Participates in meetings and provides information as required;
    • Program evaluations
    • Building meetings
    • Reporting Data at Bimonthly Coffee
  • Implements Elementary School Behavior Plan as acting Disciplinarian & Citizenship Model
  • Supports Faculty/Staff with classroom needs:
    • Upholds educational policies
    • Guides Aides in JK program
    • Integrates curriculum & creates progress benchmarks
    • Manages daily teachers' processes and programs
    • Responds immediately to parent concerns
  • Assists in Fire and Earthquake drills;
  • Works closely with ES Counselor to implement educational/counseling curriculum programs;
  • Assists principal with budget;
  • Supervision and lunch duty schedules;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor;
  • Admissions with Principal:
    • Interviews/Assessments of new students;
    • Placement of new students into Elementary homeroom classrooms;
    • Maintain a variety of files; prepare periodic and special reports as required;
  • Placement/Scheduling of all students into Skyward;
  • Assists with MAP Testing (3-5);
  • Financial Assistance meetings;
  • Honor Code committee;
  • Creates Teacher Schedules;
  • Builds Duty Schedules
  • Designs MUSE Article;
  • Inservice Coordination;
  • Coordinates Monthly Assemblies.

Work Contacts:
Frequent contacts with faculty, students, parents, administrators, and support staff.

Independence of Operation:
Works in accordance with approved Board Policy, administrative procedures, and direction of the Principal.
Work is evaluated by the Principal.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MA from an accredited institution in Education or Education Administration.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related administrative experience as well as teaching experience.
  • Valid Administrative Certification.
